Leo-Kinnunen

Leo Kinnunen (born 5th August 1943) is a Finnish motor sports legend. He started in motocross but also did rally and track racing.

Leo is probably best known as a Porsche driver and for winning the Interserie Championship for three times in a row (1971, 1972, 1973).

But Leo was also the first driver of the ”blue & white” Scan-Auto Finnish Saab Works Team. He debuted the first blue and white Saab 96 (AYA-10) in the 1970 Rally of the 1000 Lakes.

Leo was also the first Finn to ever compete in F1. Although he couldn’t get a competitive car, he paved the road for many a famous Finnish F1 champion (such as Keke Rosberg, Mika Häkkinen, and Kimi Räikkönen).

The Saabworks.fi team sends their congratulations to Leo celebrating his 70th birthday.
